Join us on a once-in-a-lifetime adventure with Lou Grossfeldt, a renowned orangutan expert, primatologist, and author from Borneo Orangutan Survival Australia, as we trek to the summit of Mount Kosciuszko to raise funds and awareness for orangutan conservation and habitat restoration in Borneo.
Experience the majestic and wild beauty of Australia's only true alpine region as we make our way through the breathtaking scenery of Perisher Valley, stunning Blue Lake, and Mount Kosciuszko. This bucket-list adventure is the perfect opportunity to share stories from Borneo with Lou, as you explore the best of Australia's High Country with an expert guide and a small group of like-minded individuals.
During our journey, we'll encounter glacier-fed freshwater creeks, historic huts, weathered snow gums, and cool granite tors that were carved out during Australia's last Ice Age. The unique vegetation of the Snowy Mountains will captivate you as you admire the stunning display of wildflowers covering the ground alongside spongy sphagnum moss and fragrant alpine mint bush.
As we take in the crisp mountain air, you'll have the chance to drink from one of the many cascading icy alpine streams and keep an eye out for mountain pygmy-possums, wombats, emus, platypus, echidnas, crimson rosellas, and even wedge-tailed eagles in their extraordinary natural habitat.
This is your opportunity to travel with purpose, as your fundraising will rescue orangutans from harm caused by the wildlife trade and human-orangutan conflict. It supports the care of orangutans and sun bears through expenses for food, veterinary care, enclosures, and sanctuary services. Additionally, it aids in rehabilitating and releasing orangutans back into the wild, and ensuring habitat restoration and protection for their safety and home.
You'll walk away with unforgettable memories, new friendships, and the knowledge that you've made a difference in the lives of orangutans and their habitat.
