Wilsons Prom Weekend Walks
Saturday 15th and Sunday 16th May 2021
Our Wilsons Prom Weekend Walks will commence with all participants meeting on Friday evening at Tidal River, Wilsons Prom National Park and staying in the Tidal River Cabins.
We will enjoy two days of walks of various lengths, including to Sealers Cove and climbing Mt Oberon and walking to Oberon Bay.
Our accommodation will be bunk beds in the Tidal River Cabins.
We will however do our best to accommodate everyone as comfortably as possible!
Day One – after meeting the evening before at our Tidal River Cabin accommodation at Tidal River, we will have a hearty breakfast and then we will climb Mt Oberon and then walk to Oberon Bay, returning by a loop to Tidal River.
We may encounter some of the local wildlife, usually plenty of wombats around Tidal River and wallabies along the trails, as well as lots of others if you look carefully!
Day Two – We commence our walk to Sealers Cove and back, approximately 6 hours and 19 kms in total.
You will be able to store your belongings in your car when we check out on Sunday morning, or in one cabin we will keep for the rest of the day, however there are showers at Tidal River so you can clean up before heading home.
Given the distance from towns, there are limited sources of fresh water available other than at the designated camp sites along the Walk that are maintained by Parks Victoria. We will be ensuring that we carry enough drink bottles to sustain us between accommodations and to purify water before drinking it if required.
Both days will involve 6 to 8 hours of walking over a variety of terrain, with plenty of time for taking photos, sitting and absorbing the incredible scenery nature has provided us, chatting with fellow participants, rehydrating and eating and simply resting up when we need a break. We want this to be an experience to savour, to relish and to immerse yourself into, coming out the other end with an appreciation of exactly what you are capable of and with a sense of perspective about how you can overcome future challenges in your lives.
