Urban Walks – Hume and Hovell Track – Lara

Well known for our coastal and bush walks around Australia, we’ve now added Urban Walks to suit nearly all levels of fitness and experience.

With the support of the City of Greater Geelong Business Recovery Grants, BANG Fitness Adventures have compiled a series of urban walks along well formed tracks, and combining with local Geelong business to showcase what Geelong has to offer in the way of activities and hospitality.

Geelong has a fascinating history and this walk takes us back almost 200 years!

Starting near Limeburners Bay, this walk makes its way to Lara for a well timed coffee stop before returning the same path to the start point for a delicious picnic lunch.

The track itself honours the original trek of Hovell and Hume in 1824 as they made their way from Albury to Corio Bay – more about the history of that trek on our walk.

We will even pass one of 33 historic cairns erected along their route in 1824!

As an added treat we’ll take a short detour along a boardwalk on Limeburners Bay to see the wealth of birdlife that make their home in the area.

We’ve been guiding trekkers on walks since 2010 in Victoria, Tasmania, New South Wales and Western Australia as well as Indonesia, Papua New Guinea, Vietnam, Thailand, Sri Lanka and Fiji so we are well placed to guide you and your friends on this urban walk!
